{"id":2498,"date":"2014-08-27T13:47:10","date_gmt":"2014-08-27T21:47:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/awesomelymodest.com\/blog\/?p=2498"},"modified":"2014-10-07T13:52:42","modified_gmt":"2014-10-07T21:52:42","slug":"this-is-not-the-land-we-expected","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/awesomelymodest.com\/blog\/2014\/08\/27\/this-is-not-the-land-we-expected\/","title":{"rendered":"This is not the land we expected."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I drove out to Nevada with Profit and Andrew. \u00a0I got there before them in my old geo, and parked right when I started driving up to the sand. \u00a0I got out and asked a mother with two young girls running aroun about people getting stuck in the sand. \u00a0She said there was one time a guy had tried driving through, got stuck, called a tow, and then went right back in getting stuck again. \u00a0I left my car and went looking for the guys, to try and figure out how we were going to get across.<\/p>\n<p>While I was waiting for them, the sandy area flooded like crazy. \u00a0I ran back for my car, but I couldn&#8217;t see it. \u00a0There was another car floating around and letting water into its owpen windows, I flipped it right-side-up and pushed it out of the water. \u00a0I didn&#8217;t see my car anywhere, and while I was looking around I dropped my keys. \u00a0I dove under and was luckly able to find them quickly. \u00a0I got out and dried off a bit. \u00a0When they showed up, the water had started going down, and we could see my car was starting to emerge. \u00a0Fortunately I had closed the windows, and no water got into the car.. we pushed it out and it started right up.<\/p>\n<p>Somehow we got across, and on the other side there was a bus system. \u00a0We hopped on the bus and it took us to our property, which turned out to be a run-down old house the bus driver mentioned used to be long to Charles Manson. \u00a0We got out, grab bed some sticks to clear up the cobwebs, and started going to town inside. \u00a0It felt like we couldn&#8217;t even stand up without our hear gitting caught in spiderwebs, it was disgusting. \u00a0I turned around at one point and fell into a thick web. \u00a0Fortunately, no spiders were to be seen. \u00a0We bsasically cleaned as we explored.<\/p>\n<p>I went outside at one point and a neigh bor came outside to say hell,o and threw some timy object into our garbage. \u00a0I told him we&#8217;d throw some of our mess into his back yard garbage pile in return, and he had no issue with that. \u00a0He mentioned that some regulatory body comes by and checks the garbage every now adn again, and I figured that he had thrown something into ours that was going to get us a hefty fine. \u00a0I decided I&#8217;d look for it and throw it back in his pile once it got dark.<\/p>\n<p>We all met up on the roof of the second building in the back at one point. \u00a0The shingles were sort of a pearlescent purple, and this building was in much better shape. \u00a0After a couple minutes there, it started to rain and we went back inside. \u00a0This building looked like it was meant to be a large indoor pool, but instead of water, there was just a couple folding tables at the bottom, and a paper craft town constructed, with the houses forming a shape of the cross.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I drove out to Nevada with Profit and Andrew. \u00a0I got there before them in my old geo, and parked right when I started driving up to the sand. \u00a0I got out and asked a mother with two young girls running aroun about people getting stuck in the sand. \u00a0She said there was one time &hellip;
